Hi Everyone,

Well, I just got back from the "Seeing is Believing" seminar. As a person who was in sales for 20 years there is nothing quite as much fun as seeing a good pitch man get up in front of a crowd, start pushing buy buttons, and get people so excited they start reaching for their wallets. As a stock holder there is nothing quite as depressing as watching three computer nerds capable of public speaking bore a hundred people half to death. In all fairness the first person who spoke, a gal named Carry, has some potential if proper training in sales were provided. The two guys that followed her should have been among the 1000.

That all three made jokes about the company and some of its past products is inexcusable. They also made constant refrences to upgrades comming out in a few months on all their bright shinny new products. Where the F**K is the urgency to buy when they do that? Some may note that in all my posts this is the first time I've used the word F**K. The second clown that spoke sounded like a cyborg on amphetamines. One fellow in the crowd asked him if he should buy Group Wise now or wait for the upgrade. The cyborg blew him off with "Well, you know what I would say." The worst salesman on a used car lot would have been all over the guy! F**K ME!!!!!

They also seem to abuse hell out of their lap tops and load them up so much with their personal stuff that they had to constantly apologize for the results.

What Novell needs to do is hire a bunch of bright, high energy people, in their mid twentys, with a few years of direct commission sales experience. Spend a month training them on the products. Put a sales manager from a good sized used car lot in charge of them and turn them loose on the world! Bill Gates wouldn't know what the F**K hit him!

On the bright side: The coffee was good. The burritos we had for lunch must have weighed 2 pounds. They had huge plates of great big cookies and the little blue eyed brunette that sat in front of me smiled a lot. Also the gal that talked about Border Manager mentioned that they shipped about $2 million worth the first 2 days after it was released. I was going to try to corner her and see if she'd tell me how much they expected to ship for the quarter but didn't get the chance.

Regards,

Don

PS to Vip: That was Elmos link to Free Edgar. I just reposted it.

PS to Steve: Novell has to maintain separate funds to cover the cost of the building and may exercise the right to purchase it any time after it's completed.
