Unproven Gold Reserve in China Hit 22,000 Tons
(SinoCast Via Thomson Dialog NewsEdge)BEIJING, Mar 08, 2006 (SinoCast via COMTEX) --China's unproven gold reserve and silver reserve reached over 22,000 tons and 250,000 tons at the moment, experts estimated in accordance with a forecast statistics.
In recent seven years, China has discovered nearly 500 ore fields through strengthening evaluation on key mining areas, and the country also made long strides in evaluation on precious metals like gold and silver as well as platinum mineral.
Judging from the current survey, 1,254 tons of gold and 62,119 tons of silver have been proven in the country.
Presently, most of unproven gold mines are scattered in the west of Tianshan Mountains, the middle and western section of Qinling Mountains, bordering area of Yunnan, Guizhou and Guangxi, and other places.
In 2005, gold output across the country hit 224.05 tons, up 5.5% from the previous year. Meanwhile, the gold industry produced CNY 39.5 billion value and brought in CNY 4.036 billion profit.
