What I am saying is that people who kick a habit often become very rigid in their thinking and actions, for fear of backsliding. Additionally, those who merely substitute one obsession for another are simply shifting symptoms and not addressing the underlying issues of their addiction.

Bush exhibits both of these traits: resistance to changing a course, once set, not matter how flawed that course; obsessive adherence to routine (to sleep by 9, exercise routine).
