I disagree. Cheney and Bush must go ASAP. Of course there are risks, but the biggest risk of all is leaving Bush in power for 2.7 more years. Nobody could be worse than Bush-Cheney. And I don't think they'd be allowed to appoint some equally culpable crony like Rice. She has proven herself incompetent and dishonest.

McCain replacing Bush would be a huge improvement even if it makes it tougher for Dems to get the WH in 2008. But we don't know that. Gerald Ford was defeated handily. Also remember, McCain would probably only be allowed in if he makes a series of noxious pardons. That would weigh heavily on his image.
