As you know, I don't see it that way. The reason being, I suppose, that I understand the history of American shipping industry. Every seafaring country has various protective practices in order to ensure the integrity of the Merchant Marine and the ports in time of war.

The free market doesn't like this. Fine, but where is the free market in time of war? They skeedaddle and beg for the government to protect them.

It's the job of the government to protect business and the general population in time of war.

Well, we're at war. In case you forgot.

The people pushing the deal are motivated only by profit. That's their right but they're way outvoted. I also believe that they are short-sighted.

It might be, in theory, possible, that UAE and the Emirate of Dubai are actually reliable allies in this war. But they certainly haven't proven themselves to be so, not yet.

The Brits have earned our trust.

The Chinese -- well, that's Clinton all over. He never understood homeland security and we're stuck picking up the pieces.

Bush siding with Carter on this one -- it only makes me more determined to never vote for anybody named Bush again.
