the 2.4/4MB will also only be $315 and that's only 10% slower so maybe on a par with the top DDR2-800 2.8 FX62 of the time. What this will do to AMD's price structure I dread to think but I don't think it will be pretty. Low-end skus might disappear very quickly leaving a compressed in price smaller sku range. All dependant of course on Conroe volume being able to satisfy demand but at those prices it does not look like they think they will have any trouble supplying demand. AMD may drop prices even more to sell its stuff in volume triggering a response from Intel and so on. Sure looks like a bloody tooth and nail scrap to me starting in Q4. Whatever AMD has in reserve it needs to get it out pretty sharpish as who knows where this all might end if Conroe is easy to clock high at 65nm let alone at 45nm. AMD's toughest test yet, far more than the fragile P4 or docile P3 gave them and they will need all their wits about them to survive intact. Intel has been quite brutal in the past when it had a performance advantage leaving AMD foraging for cheap scraps, no reason to think it will be any different now.
