I'm familiar with that, somewhat. I believe if it loses value during the restriction period, you only get a capital loss, the deduction of which is capped at $3000 per year.

The annual cap on capital losses should have been raised to at least $12k by now, if not more. And that's just to cover inflation. That issue is another sewer of Democrat class-hatred socialism.....
