I've been long AMD since low 20's and holding. Let us know when you go long Intel and we'll see!

It could be a while before I go long on Intel. I just spent much of today describing how NGA could be a large burden on Intel by severely devaluing all of their Netburst processors. Doug thinks Intel will keep prices relatively stable based on what the Intel Euro exec said. I think market forces will drive down Netburst prices, especially on the desktop where AMD is strong. If Intel doesn't lower prices they will either have to throttle back production or raise inventories further, neither of which are particularly good for Intel and neither are bad for AMD.

I do believe the Conroe benchmarks are at least somewhat in the ballpark. Even spotting the AMD system an extra 10% in performance it would be weak compared to the Conroe numbers. My feeling is that Conroe's clock-for-clock performance will be at least 10% higher on average than AM2, and giving a 2.66GHz Conroe a performance advantage over a 2.8GHz Socket AM2 Athlon 64 X2. If Conroe falls short of that I will put my money where my mouth is an kick in $25 to the EPS Contest fund within a week after the published benchmarks. Would you be willing to kick in $25 if my Conroe performance guess is correct?
