I haven't watched a whole Hardball show in a long time but I do catch a few minutes when a commercial is on whatever else I am watching.

A week or two ago I heard Mathews say this...he said... "it's my job to take the opposite side of whatever my guest has to say".... watch him close next time you see him and I bet you'll agree that lately he is giving the left a harder time than he gives the right. He is much more likely to follow up questions to democrats with more probing questions. He is more likely to just accept what a republican says as the truth and move on to another question. In that sense he reminds me a little of Wolf Blitzer who asks some tough questions of his even his republican guests but after they stonewall him he just accepts their answer and moves on to a different question.

Besides Olberman, Lou Dobbs is the guy to watch right now. He has been cracking down hard on his guests recently. I think he got pissed over the port deal. Whenever a guest talks out of turn he tells them to wait their turn to talk. When one of them starts rambling to avoid Lou's question he interrupts them and reminds them just what the question he asked was. I think Dobbs believes more of what he says his position is than any other anchor. Olberman is good but he's more of an entertainer than a real political anchor right now.
