With a few honorable exceptions like Senators Russ Feingold and Robert Byrd I agree with you.

The problem here is that the Democrats have long depended upon Zionist sources for around half their funding. And the wealthy Zionists who provide the funds tend to be more militantly pro-Israel than the average Jew.

The Republicans are less dependent upon Zionist funds -- but the Zionists have compensated by seizing the ideological reins of the GOP -- at least as regards mideast policy.
