Can't believe Japan wants that weak of a currency at this point.

Russ can you illuminate me why people like andy kessler say that countries want weak currencies to increase exports. Thereby increasing thier population workforce. Thereby taking out those idle hands that are devils work and making them busy. Thereby politicians keep the populace pacified and stay in power. What part of this chain is Japan not trying to follow? Do they wish to keep a high currency, lose exports and jobs, get an angry populace, and all the politcos be voted out of office by restless voters with too much time to see all the gubbment corruption?

Looking here at current account balances it seems Japan is at the top of all 149 or so nations and USA is at the VERY BOTTOM. What a difference between the 2 top economies! Is short term US paper really such a good idea?
