Crimson > This rabbi (and he undoubtedly reflects the sentiments of many others) preaches that by voting for Hamas the Palestinians have proved they want to wipe Israel off the map and kill all the Jews living there.

Clearly, he would prefer the Palestinians to give up their birth-right and let Israel do to them anything it pleases. That, in fact, has been the Israeli position all along. Of course, the undisputed fact that Israel took the Palestinian land in the first place is overlooked, covered-up is a better word, by all the noise generated about the Holocaust, terrorism and complaints about denial of Israel's "right" to exist, whatever that means. Frankly, and particularly while they hold the land which they took post-1967 by war, I have little sympathy for the Israeli argument.

> He also has taken up Cheney propaganda that the Moslems want to form a global caliphate and that Jews and Christians must do all they can to stop this.

They may well want to form a global caliphate and why shouldn't they? As far as the Jews and Christians uniting to stop that, well, that's pure mischief-making, an attempt to find anti-Muslim resonance particularly among the Evangelists. And they will. The Evangelists are possibly keener on a Muslim-free Israel than even the Israelis themselves. And then they'll tell us that that's the teaching of Jesus (who lived 600 years before Mohammed was born!)

> How easily he forgets that until the creation of Israel the Moslems showed far more tolerance for Jews than Christians ever did.

Actual history is of no interest. What is important is the way the history books are written.

> The numerous massacres of Jews in Christian Europe during the Middle Ages do not have any counterpart in the Islamic world as far as I know.

Not only Middle Ages but throughout history. But, anyway, and as I have said before, the actual Jewish religion is of no interest to Zionists. If it was, there would be no State of Israel, and certainly not the way it has come about which is in violation of everything which the religion regards as sacred, including the Commandments. If ever I required justification to walk away from all religion, and especially the Jewish religion as I have done, I would have needed no more reason than Israel itself.
