I agree with what you say including Obama. However, I think that what happens in 2008 will be dictated by how the Democrats fare in 2006.

Regarding the role of fund raising and money, I think 2004 proved that money is not much of a factor. It is campaigning tactics that matters. Dean failed since his tactics were poor. Kerry failed for the same reason. He was unable to confront the opposition effectively. Negative campaigning, sadly has come to stay. The American people will vote for those who can effectively thwart the negative attacks.
