• First two drill holes uncover significant skarn intercepts and two new veins;
• Third and fourth drill holes provide confirmation of continuity for 10 veins and uncover 14 entirely new veins west of the Tres Aguilas fault, in the old sector of the Santa Juana mine;
• Fifth and sixth drill holes cut wide mineralized skarns units (up to 70 meters thickness) at depth, in the Tres Aguilas sector;

Torreón, Coahuila, March 8, 2006- ECU Silver Mining inc. (TSXV:ECU)

ECU Silver Mining Inc. (the "Company") is pleased to announce the first assay results from its current drilling program. (see Stockwatch Jan. 23, 2006).

The first two holes, TA 17.5-01 and TA 17.5-02, were aimed at verifying the presence of new veins south of the known veins in the Tres Aguilas sector of the Santa Juana mine. They were drilled from level 17.5, to the south-west at an angle of 0°, for 151 meters and 203 meters respectively. The most significant assays are listed below.

The first two holes encountered an entirely new vein system with two small veins that might grow at depth. The assay results collected from this area confirmed the previous interpretation and validated the focus of the current work, east in the Tres Aguilas sector and west on the other side of the fault. As promising as the discovery of this new vein system was, what the Company found most interesting from the data of the first two drill holes were the results obtained from oxidized skarn samples, 0.33 and 0.30 g/t Au are 10 times higher than gold assays in the skarn on the other side of the fault, at the same elevation. This validated our theory that we are closer to the main source of the mineralization in the Tres Aguilas sector. Furthermore, these assays were part of a 5.11 meters thick skarn intercept, which was close to an additional 27.6 meters of skarn and an additional 20 meters section cut in the second hole.

The third and fourth holes, SJ 17-06 and SJ 17-07, were aimed at verifying the presence of known veins west of the Tres Aguilas fault in the old sector of the Santa Juana mine, west-south-west and east-north-east of the existing workings. They were drilled at nearly flat angles, from level 17, N250° and N70° for 105 meters and 158 meters respectively.

These two holes, representing a 263 meters horizontal cross-section on level 17, proved the extension of 10 known veins and uncovered 14 new veins, some in a previously untested sector, that might have a significant impact on the future update of the 43-101 compliant Mineral Inventory once further work is carried out. Drilling at depth will follow to evaluate the 24 veins since thickness and grades increase with depth in that area.

Furthermore, the fifth and sixth holes (TA 17.5-03 and TA 17.5-04) were drilled below holes TA 17.5-01 and TA 17.5-02 to verify the continuity of the skarn units. Both drill holes intersected wide intercepts of weakly to moderately mineralized skarn, up to 70 meters in thickness. Assays are pending.

All the samples but one represent the core length and may not be representative of the true width although it should be between 80 and 95% of core length according to our current interpretation. Samples were assayed at ERSA, in Torreón, Coahuila, and at SGS new facility (used to be Mina de San Luis) in Durango, state of Durango, Mexico. Property specific quality control samples were inserted at regular intervals in the sample sequence.

ECU Silver Mining Inc is a junior Gold, Silver, Zinc and Lead producer in the prolific mining district of Velardeña, Mexico where historically over 500,000 ounces of Gold and 250,000,000 ounces of silver have been mined. Full scale production began in May 2005 at the Company's Santa Juana mine. To ensure the Company is positioned for continued growth and expansion, and to take full advantage of the current record setting metals prices, the Company has a fully operational infrastructure in place, several months of planned production available from the current stopes, and ongoing exploration programs.
