Just a Thought...
...if some Researcher could prove BPI {aids (bad word!) xxx} Helps in the cessation of need to smoke cigarettes, the FDA would probably bump BPI synthesized products up to 1st place for signatory Approval. One wonders where the priorities are with the 'agency' in these modern times?

IMHO...I think the FDA is trying to do 'To Much' with not enough proper Manpower. Probably to be able to solve ALL the problems presented to them, Congress (we, the people!) should re-organize FDA to accept and process just Medical aspects, and give ALL the Food type problems to a New 'Food Technology & Protection Agency'.
To conquer, on a TIMELY BASIS, the workload needs to be re-assigned and prioritized at two or more levels of urgency?
Remember how your Teachers or Parents tought us how to solve problems by breaking them down into a bunch of smaller, easier to solve, problems? The words 'Overload', 'Backlog', 'Bureaucracy' should disappear from our vocabulary in our Future....When?

Just a couple solutions, as above, for thought by those that can't wait 10 years for Approval of Life saving Medical products. Why should Companies spend Millions & Millions of $'s to get a Drug developed and wait so long to get it approved?
