McAfee's press release had claimed that Romtec, a leading UK market analyst firm, had reported that McAfee's product outsold Dr Solomon's Anti-Virus Toolkit in its most recently published retail sales figures. However, the facts are quite different. According to Chris Herbert, Business Manager at Romtec, "Dr Solomon's Anti-Virus Toolkit clearly outsold McAfee's VirusScan in the U.K. indirect channel in July."
Dr. Solomon's Antivirus ToolKit didn't make PC Data's list of more than 200 titles in the United States.
McAfee's press release further claimed Dr Solomon's Software was absent from a Top 200 list of vendors published by PC Data Corporation, provider of the most accurate, reliable and comprehensive software and hardware point-of-sale information in North America. SANTA CLARA, Calif., Sept. 17 /PRNewswire/ -- McAfee Assoc. (Nasdaq: MCAF), the world's leading vendor of anti-virus and security software, today announced that VirusScan outsold Dr. Solomon's Anti-Virus Toolkit in the UK, based on July sales figures reported by Romtec, a UK market analyst firm. Symantec (Nasdaq: SMYC) did not make the July list of top reseller titles. These results come on the heels of an aggressive global distribution and support strategy implemented by McAfee earlier this year. McAfee has also experienced rapid growth in the UK corporate market, highlighted most recently by the selection of McAfee by House of Fraser and the Royal Dutch Shell Group. Dr. Solomon's, while focused on, and headquartered in the UK, has had difficulty penetrating global markets, as portrayed most recently by their absence from PC Data's list of top 200 vendors which chronicles sales in US indirect channels.

So as you can see.. someone at MCAF err'ored.. Bring on the lawsuits.. Heck its a great traders stock,
SYMC has opened pandor's box and now everyone will get into it. But one thing amazes me through all these, Seeing how some of the SYMC supporters were so for the lawsuit against other companies that now that they are also in the midst of a whole bunch of them , how easy it is to dismiss it as weak hands and panic sellers etc etc and that there is no basis for any of it.. You got to say punk, Do you feel lucky? Just how lucky, enough to have a dozen fud managers and anal-ists scrutnize your sec filings when earnings are released next month? And just how is all the products doing and how much marketshare is lost or won. The funs just started, till now there was the benefit fo the doubt, now comes lets wait it out and see, Its fun to see it happen to the other guy but when it happen to you.. well its a whole another matter.... Oh BTW wait for next weeks mcaf press release, should be good, I loaded up today, maybe I erred as usuall..
