The point is that the "coat hanger" is their way of scaring people into making abortion available to everyone at anytime with no "consequences" except maybe a guilty conscience.

Its interesting how you diminish the role of the abortion tool/coat hanger by calling it a scare tactic. Unlike the threat of terrorism, coat hanger abortions were an everyday occurrence before Roe vs Wade. And if they were not available, a dirty knife or a quick kick to a woman's stomach sufficed. The abortion horror stories and the numerous unwanted babies that existed before Roe vs Wade were all too real. Many a young girl paid a dear price for her sexuality.

But the conservative types would have us go back to those miserable days by not only banning abortions but stopping the use of contraceptives as well. Why?
