Even the wars we fight are reflective of partisan politics. If clinton is for it, a whole host of liberal types sign up; if bush is for it, its the cons--neo or not. Its like sports steve--we become fans, and facts be damned.
We both said today in separate unrelated posts, how bizarre it is that rummy is still there. Chris Matthews had Michael Gordon and General Trainor on tonite. They authored a new book together that apparently eviscerates rummy and bremer. They say that many generals who were there in iraq now say that it was pure mismanagement, the failure to recognize insurgency, the failure of not using the iraqi army even though most iraqis officers were not baath party members and other things like that that havae killed our chances for success. I wonder that when you are being totally honest, do you see that we did have a chance to accomplish some useful things in iraq and thats where the true failure is as opposed to the bush lied stuff to argue against the war. I can say now knowing what i know that the war perhaps should not have been fought.
