I have a Scots Irish ancestor in my tree, so I'd like to learn more about Ireland. Historical novels are terrific for adding color to the history, and finding sites to visit. Someday in another life I'd like to write such a novel.

BTW, re your recent mention of the Calvinist minister in Michener's book "Hawaii". Turns out I have a distant uncle who was one of those early missionaries to Honolulu back in the 1850s. His son later became a famous Hawaiian painter of the "Volcano School".
