Mindlessly repeating partisan talking points is NOT a way of keeping fidelity towards the fundamental principles that were the foundation of our government, fundamental principles that most, especially those with the darkest tint to their glasses and the loudest voices, claim to hold dear.

Unfortunately, beliefs held with deep passion often seem to exclude the rationality that underlies the fidelity to fundamentals that any true democratic republic needs to survive.

That is a superb quote. Beyond the occasional marginal publication like this, I rarely if ever find anyone in the mainstream political debate talking about fidelity to accuracy, context, analytical integrity, etc.

It's all just a thinly veiled attack on partisan opponents. Instead of holding up ideas to real scrutiny, my ideas are insightful while the other guy's ideas are warped/wrong/biased/bad/nonexistent and so on. Speakers from my side are objective while anyone on the other side is warped/wrong/biased/bad and so on.

And hardly anyone seems to care that genuine analysis and debate has vanished from our political stage.
