GODALMING, Surrey, England and IRVINE, Calif., March 15 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- MTI Technology Corporation (Nasdaq: MTIC), a multi-national storage solutions and services company, was chosen to provide a complete storage solution for Avis Europe, the leading car rental company in Europe, Africa, the Middle East and Asia. As a result of MTI's strategic solution, Avis has consolidated its disk storage in Frankfurt, (Germany), Bracknell and Heathrow, (UK) to achieve greater system performance, reliability and redundancy.
"When we looked to upgrade our storage systems, replication and backup facilities, it was important that uniformity of installation, configuration and implementation could be guaranteed," explained Robin Gardner, IT manager for Avis Group across Europe, Africa, the Middle East and Asia. By deploying the same people from MTI's Professional Services team, in both UK and Germany, MTI was able to exactly replicate the installations for us. The MTI team created and tested the total storage infrastructure in one place and then shipped the required elements needed in Germany. Members of this team then flew to the German site and ensured the completed project was identical in each location. The duplicated solution maximises the performance of the system while also ensuring remote replication and business continuity requirements are fully and safely met within the established SLAs.
The MTI solution consisted of EMC Clariion storage arrays, backup and remote replication software. The new infrastructure provides very cost effective storage resources that are easier to manage than the outgoing systems and will allow growth and scalability for Avis well into the future.
MTI's Professional Services consultants successfully implemented the new CX500 infrastructure and migrated the customer's critical data and applications with minimal impact to Avis's daily business operations.
