I went to a land grant college, which meant that I had to take two years of ROTC whether I wanted to or not. I chose Air Force ROTC. In one of the classes, the Captain explained that we were in Vietnam because of its location, strategically important because it's on the corner between the Indian and Pacific Oceans.

That made perfect sense to me. I don't know why we would want to let the Communists just march down there and take it over. Which is exactly what they would have done through Ho Chi Minh, and what we let them do after losing 53,000 of our guys.

THAT made no sense to me. Giving up after making the sacrifice but before achieving the objective. Same thing the Dems want us to do in Iraq.

I believe the American people will listen to valid logic, but there seems to be a compulsion amongst our leaders to mask valid reasons with ones that sound pretty.
