From Briefing.com: 16-Mar-06 09:39 ET In Play Kulicke & Soffa semi industry trends call update (KLIC) 10.27 -1.01: Co believes their revs will fall within the previous range given. Co believes the industry is effectively managing capacity. Customers feedback has been optimistic about 2006, noting it should be a growth year. During Q&A, co noted in general, everyone is pulling back a little bit. However, co emphasizes capacity utilization is still at high levels. The industry is noted to be adding capacity, but not adding it as fast as they did last year.

I listened to part of the conference call. It was easy to ascertain that January was a huge month and things have slowed since then. Obviously the stock is down based on the outlook which while it is not bad we all know could be adjusted in either direction. Uncertainty always leads to selling. The mere fact that KLIC which often sees a rapid rise in orders early in a cyclical recovery is now noting some softening in demand should be taken as a good reason to exercise caution. JMHO, RtS
