Junior is wanting the line item veto power now. Line item veto might be a good idea if the president didn't use it to reward or punish people or as a partisan tool but we all know junior will abuse any power he gets so I hope they don't give it to him.

Congress gave it to Clinton only to have the supreme court declare it to be unconstitutional. Now gonzales says a line item veto bill can be worded so that it is constitutional. I wouldn't be surprised if they weren't able to get junior's supreme court to give their Ok if they do change a few words in the old bill.

The thing congress should do is to make those signing statements illegal which junior uses for such things as declaring he can torture people even though the bill (law) he is signing specifically makes it illegal. He has no business attaching statements to bills which if enforced someday would change what is in the bill or law.
