Sadly, Iraq is a lost cause and Bush-Cheney are responsible.
Blowing up a third world village doesn't make Bush look tough, it just reminds us how many people have died for almost nothing, especially if the violence continues, or if (like the other day) the raid claims the lives of many women and children. Our firepower almost guarantees civilian casualties every time we strike.

One more thing to worry about. These "insurgents", are they Sunni or Shia? And if so, whose side are the Americans on? One thing we can't do is be on one side or another. Which means we are between two waring sides. Which is a receipe for disaster, a no-win situation. Also, can we trust the Iraqi intel we get? In Vietnam, the South Vietnamese often gave us deliberately wrong intel to settle their own personal grudge matches. Is this happening again?

In short, who are our enemies really? Can we even tell who they are? It's not as though Al Qaida walks around with uniforms. They are indistinguishable from normal Iraqis. And they probably don't travel in groups. Plus, isn't the Iraqi army infiltrated by those who hate us? FUBAR man.
