Beacon Power to test electricity storage in NY
This is the second application of the developing technology by Beacon. The first is being tested in California.

A series of high-speed flywheels recycle electricity cleanly so there are less power surges, which can cause power stations to trip off.

The system was built under contract with the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA), and the U.S. Department of Energy.

Beacon Power shares were up 46 cents or 32.4 percent at $1.88 on the Nasdaq late on Wednesday afternoon.
