... though I don't think the second option is anywhere near possible.

The perspective that I found interesting was the Arab/Persian part. Does that animosity trump the Iran Shiite/Iraq Shiite relationship between Iran and southern Iraq? Maybe it does; I don't know.

As I've said before, all the moving parts in Iraq and environs makes it impossible to predict what's going to happen. Every time you turn around there is a different variable that you (or I) hadn't considered.
