Look, Kerry voted for the pro-war resolution and it was a preemptive war resolution. Kerry knew what he was doing, as did everyone else who supported that measure. The GOPwingers timed the vote to happen just ahead of the congressional elections, and no politician, unless brave and secure in their position, wanted to appear weak on defense-related issues--especially since the GOPwingers had captured the mainstream media and were heaping duct-tape ideas onto people.

The criticism is a fair one: All democrats who supported that resolution should make a united statement, deploring the evidence that was presented before the vote. They should further criticize the timing of that vote.
