The perspective that I found interesting was the Arab/Persian part. Does that animosity trump the Iran Shiite/Iraq Shiite relationship between Iran and southern Iraq? Maybe it does; I don't know.

I didn't want to say anything before but I was surprised when he made that observation. As as I understand it, its the Sunni Arabs and the Persians who don't get along that well. In thruth, I think the Sunnis despise the Shia more than they do the Persians, or at a minimum, they despise them equally. The Arab Shia I think are more motivated by keeping their independence as Iraqis and deciding their own fate than they are by the fact the Iranians are Persian.
