yeah, our system of letting the people vote for who they want to represent them sucks doesn't it?

Yeah, our system lets us vote for the people who have the most money and fits a certain demographic. That's real democracy to you, isn't it bubba? Wrong again.

Pay attention.......you are about to get some more authentic education. What we practice in this country is not pure/real democracy....its a facsimile of what the Greeks coined democracy. In a real democracy, people vote on every issue that comes up in front of the community. Since our lives have become considerably more complicated than those of the citizens of the Greek city-states, we have what's called representational democracy. The legislators for whom you vote are your proxy in Little Rock or Washington, DC. So the goal is to elect people who think and believe as much like you as possible. Now if you're a woman esp. a poor woman of color......how is voting for a rich, white man likely to get you someone who thinks the way you do? If you are poor, how is voting for a billionaire getting someone who thinks and believes like you do? In both cases that's not what is happening. People are not getting a true representative in DC or Little Rock. Instead, in many cases, they are getting someone from a elite portion of the white, upper classes who doesn't think like they do at all.

So here you've got a situation where the American democracy has already been diluted quite a bit from the get go, and then it gets diluted even more by voting for people who only in the most general of ways think like you do. That's why the current state of American democracy sucks. See the problem, bubba?

Probably not......but you go ahead and keep drinking that special brand of koolaid of yours.........the one that makes you all smug and intolerant, thinking that you've got all the answers because you're white, over 21 and free in these not so united states. The real problem, of course, is that you don't have a clue. You know who takes a great deal of pleasure saying "Sweet!" a lot of the time are all the Republicans at party headquarters counting the money they've suckered out of you yokels. And of course, in your koolaid enduced state you go around trashing the Dems thinking that they are the real culprits. There is a fool born every day in this country.

Oh yeah, and let me give you another example of how intolerant your bosses are. Here in metro Seattle, we're known as being liberal and pretty tolerant......well that's true except for a few parts of the metro areas where the very rich have chosen to live; the very rich who also happen to be your party bosses and leaders. One of those enclaves here is called Sammamish. For years, the county has been trying to complete its county wide bike and walking trail on a railroad right of way that happens to traverse Sammamish. The trail is for the Common Good. However, that means little to the not so common/not so good, intolerant folk of Sammamish who have fought it for years........spending millions in fact....losing lawsuit after lawsuit and finally giving up a few years ago. In spite of their best efforts, the 11 mile trail will open soon.

You see the Sammamish members of your party did not want people like you and me traversing their neighborhoods. I know, I know you won't believe that.......you will tell yourself that its really criminals they are worried about but secretly when know one is paying much attention you will also admit they don't want any of those 'colored folk' coming through Sammamish. But that would be wrong........that would be a lie because for all kinds of demographic reasons the most likely user of the trail are people just like you and me.....white and middle class. And they don't want any middle class peons coming through their gilded neighborhood........those poor folks, they paid millions trying to keep us out. Read all about it here:

East Lake Sammimish trail finally opening

One last thing, bubba........Martin Luther King had a dream......and trust me when I tell you.......you and your Republican party were not part of that dream.
