I think we are in for stagflation that will make 70's look like a picnic. Of course it is a matter of policy, so that anything is possible.
If the feds went all out to prevent a recession in 2001/2 and even a minor recession in 98, how on earth recession will be an option now, if it would mean a Depression on a scale not seen since the 30's.

Huge inflation is inevitable, the Fed hopes that it can sustain an 8% inflation rate for the rest of the decade, without a currency collapse and hyperinflation. They will only be successful as long as their "low inflation" propaganda succeeds in keeping the public and FCB's hold dollars and negative yielding debt instruments.
