Buzz on the BullBoards: Posters Ponder Penny Gold Stock's Century Mark

Friday, March 17, 2006
By Sean Mason

It looks as though Century Mining Corp. (TSX: V.CMM, BullBoards) is about to shed its penny-stock image. On March 15, 2006, the company's share price closed at $1, having doubled during the past six weeks.

Century Mining claims to be Canada's newest gold producer. It owns the Sigma-Lamaque Complex, the Carolin gold mine in southwestern British Columbia and nine precious metals exploration projects located on the Alaska Juneau Gold Belt. Century projects that its Sigma Mine will produce 90,000 ounces of gold per year at a cash cost of about US$325 an ounce.

The day before Century's stock closed at a dollar, StockHouse poster production05 stated "if we get our loonie today then we will be able to start our drive towards the toonie." (go to post)

While tanoose shows readers a letter from the company's president, which make a case as to why people should buy the stock. (go to post)

TheRock17, meanwhile, has a bullish outlook saying "gold production from the current mill (could) be rapidly increased to the 150,000 oz /year level by late 2006. At 150,000 oz/year, our fair value market cap would be at least $750 million or about $7.50 /share." (go to post)

Tad, however, appears a bit more cautious adding "don't expect anything spectacular for Q4 results. It was only the second full quarter of commercial production, and the company was on a 'learning curve' with the pit. They were just starting to get out from under the 'waste bound' condition they were in." (go to post)

On the other hand, 6180 was quick to point out evidence of one institution buying more than 10% of the company's outstanding shares. (go to post)

pin, though, decided to take some profit and let the rest of his position ride. He added "I'm posting because this is a quality board and I'm worried that it's getting a little carried away. Let's call it semi-irrational exuberance." (go to post)
