One of my favorite activities is finding old cabins and exploring them. I've found quite a few over the years. I always get the feeling that the spirit of the person who built the cabin and lived there is hovering around. Same with old mines.

Some of the old cabins are nothing but crumbled wood fragments in the soil now. Even ones that were good enough to stay in when I knew them have fallen down. My favorites were the ones where I found old steel traps, because I knew the builder was a trapper, like me. Once I found the stretching boards for weasel (ermine) and marten pelts.

Certain kinds of music evoke memories of those places. Enya does that all the time for me.
