<The orthodox idea that Christ was the son of God -- God himself in human form -- that he was the creator of the countless millions of glowing suns and wheeling worlds that strew the infinite expanse of the universe; that the forces of nature were the servants of his will and changed their courses at his command -->

FYI... the 'spiritual bent' folks (and those of Eastern beliefs) would say he was 'god incarnate', completely different from a "god" that could (supposedly) do all that stuff. Even orthodox Catholic religion states Jesus was human, and susceptible to normal things that come with a human body. You'd have to look that up to see how that fits in with miracles... don't know.

The rest of that stuff presumes that it's going to make a difference what some historian digs up as to what people believe, or more importantly, what the truth is. As you probably know... it's an open question (was Jesus real)... but IMHO, the only doubt is more like who was he, and was he or his teachings important?

I find it interesting that the guys doesn't even look at the angle of the fact that the guy who supposedly never lived had teachings so similar to all the other "avatars" & sages, etc.
