re: ALZ.V - Aldershot Resources - C$0.39

RocketRed,
wow, what a conincidence - I see, you beat me to the "news" cycle on Aldershot Resources (ALZ.V) - as I have been in preparation of a writeup on this company also......

IMHO this is a great energy metals play literally and nicely spread around the globe (Canada, Australia, Africa). However it is also a somewhat "strange" company - relating to a fact that almost no one knows yet: Aldershot isn't just about URanium - it's about THORIUM also - and both in "high grade" variants (> 1%).. !!

Details: ALZ.V - Aldershot Resources C$0.39 (TSXV)
aldershotresources.com

After the most recent financing, there are 42m shares out fully diluted and marketcap at the moment is around $13m USD .. should sound familiar with my picks (I am employing usually a $8-10m "baseline" capitalization which I do not want to go much below, so tiny microcap prospectors I usually pass by)

They obtained prime uranium-rpone acreage in Quebec with drill samples of up to 25% of THORIUM (!!) which can only be considered world class grade... Compare that with "established" Thorium player Novastar (NVAS.OB) which was recently mentioned on the Bosco & Crossy thread - Novastar has lower grades of Thorium deposits yet a $100m marketcap (I guess due to the merger with Throrium Power Co. which makes it a technology play also..)

Interestingly, even at present Thorium is more expensive than Uranium, despite being more abundant on earth. There are specialty applications in welding electrodes and advanced lightning equipment requiring good quantities of the metal right now. It might however also have a role as the "nuclear power metal" of the future. I decided to cover this opportunity by investing in Aldershot.

What is more, Aldershot isn't just about Thorium - in fact this property's Thorium appeal is only mentioned in 2 press releases. The more conventional acreage they own are almost a dozen Uranium properties all over the world.. Australia (NZ, WA - 5 properties), Africa (Zambia) and Canada (Quebec, BC - 4 properties with boulder crop samples of 1-2% URanium).. Last but´not least, Aldershot has approx. 6000t of confirmed Uranium resources in its properties already (from drilling campaigns of past holders) ..

ALZ.V did present their company last week at the PDAC 2006 (prospectors and mining show). CEO Jeremy Caddy is a pleasure to talk to and from what I can tell he's very accessible to investors.
