What places do you eat at?

Just those locally available....Boston Cooker, Red Lobster, Outback, Olive Garden, etc.

Cheesecake factory and the melting pot will eat you up.

May be so, I don't know, haven't been in either.

you can still eat at those high society places and pay low society prices - or are you the kind that feels paying more is a status symbol?

I have no particular social status aspirations. I select a place because of its combination of good food and reasonable prices for the service.

My point wasn't to discuss culinary merits versus cost, it was to highlight that going to the same kind of places over the years has resulted in my observation that the prices have gone up markedly over the last few years. Does it really matter whether the price has gone up 30% for a $10 dollar tab or 30% for a $100 tab?

Mish was using his personal lifestyle to evaluate or corroborate his view of inflation and challenged posters to give contrasting experiences. I have provided my own in that light.
