Tories still had a couple of years and yet the deficit was growing even larger than prior to the gst. Seriously, how much extra cash was coming in from the new gst versus the original tax it replaced? A few billon or so. Martin made the tough decisions! Cut many programs, etc. Until the deficit was under control, which in turn greatly improved Canada's debt rating. Like you say.........When will this story ever be told correctly ?
