We want to win this. Its in our interest to win this. But its no sure thing that the iraqis are up to it on their end or that the american people have the perseverence to stay this course. I have my own doubts about the current course as you know. So we dont have to win it at all and there may be a fallback position if iraq falls apart of three states with the sunni part renamed as iraqistine. That would suck but will suck less if kurds and shias get stable regimes.
