Your fantasy about Vietnam is revisionism and self delusion. We had more than half a million men in Vietnam by 1968, and were bombing the hell out of the north. We tried bombing Cambodia and Laos, and even interdiction invasions. Invasion of the north by our troops would surely have triggered a Chinese response, and a repeat of Korea.

The lessons of Vietnam were that might does not always triumph over a determined foe, insurgency is difficult and expensive to overcome, and technology can't replace a grunt. Lessons that Russia should have heeded in Afghanistan, and we should have heeded in Iraq.

On the other hand, lessons are lost on you...
