Well, I think this is a cautionary tale of WHY we need to keep church and state separate; why the founders, religious men all, put it in the Constitution; and why many fight to keep it so. Religion has no place in government.

The founders recognized that a theocracy is inherently anti-democratic. Well, at least those who supported the Constitution, and thus the idea of a United States.

The other thing this story highlights is that a literal interpretation of any ancient scripture is a bad idea.
