Rummy only wanted to use 40,000 troops to take out Saddam. The generals were calling for more like 250,000. This was Franks' number, as detailed in his book. They settled on 150,000. That proved to be way short of what was needed to secure the peace...

Gen. Shinseki said under testimony to Congress that "several hundred thousand" troops would be needed to secure the peace in occupied Iraq.

By English language definition, generally "a couple" means 2, "a few" means 3 or 4, "several" means 5 or 6 (at least) and "many" means 7 and higher.

So Shinseki said we needed some 500,000 to 600,000 troops. In retrospect, we can see how right he was. Of course, in Dumbya's administration, if you are correct and honest, you are fired! Which is what they did to Shinseki.
