"There are some teachers that are seeking an easy way out (not the good ones, of course), so they put pressure on the parents to put their kids onto something"

And can they ever apply pressure. It is always the first thing out of their mouths. If you don't comply, they move your kid to the special education classes. And then that leads to all sort of social issues in school for the child. And if they were acting up before because of boredom, well...

Really? Its that bad in TX? I don't get the sense that's true here but I could be very wrong.....I mean in terms of encouraging medication. However, they do see a problem......esp. with the boys....that they think boys have an adjustment problem here.....which I've discussed before.

What researchers are finding now is that boys act up not necessarily because they are bored but because of the way they are hard wired.....it makes them restless and they have a need to be physical. I remember as a kid it took all my discipline to sit still in class and I was a good student. Even with that, I would sometimes end up in the hall with the teacher asking me "why can't a smart boy like you get his act together".

That attitude of teachers seems to have gotten worse since I was a kid and I think its making things worse.
