Everson vs Board of Education ruled that people should not be forced to profess a belief in any religion. Atheists believe that the 'under God' forcibly exposes their children to religion in public school. They see no difference between 'under God' and 'under Jesus' or 'under Allah'; to them, there is no God, let alone a specific flavor.
