This IBM Nikon scanner has been there for about two years. IBM wrote
a technical paper comparing this scanner to an SVGL "broad band" HgNe lamp
scanner. Also, Intel has had their machine for about one year. Both
of these are the S201 model. I currently have on order an S202 (this
has the new "air bearing" stage) which is scheduled for delivery in
April '98. So, I am a little confused by your thought that no one other
than SVGL is selling scanners.
