The following notice from the Foreign Correspndents Club of Japan is self-explanatory.

Freedom of the Press Committee at the Foreign Correspondent's Club of Japan to issue formal protest to U.S. embassy in Tokyo about loss of U.S. press freedom

The Freedom of the Press Committee of the Foreign Correspondents' Club of Japan will ask the U.S. government to restore freedom of the press in the United States. Hundreds of American journalists are being followed, their houses are being searched and stories are being repressed. The Freedom of the Press Committee expresses its solidarity with beleaguered American journalists and will fight to restore freedom of the press in the United States. It will also keep a sharp eye on developments in Japan, notably the imminent passage of several very repressive laws.
