SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- Herman Miller Inc. (MLHR) after Wednesday's closing bell said third-quarter net income was $22.4 million, or 33 cents a share, up from $16.8 million, or 24 cents a share, during the same period last year. Analysts polled by Thomson First Call were looking for per-share income of 33 cents. The office furniture company said quarterly revenue was $424 million, up from $382.4 million last year. Analysts were looking for revenue of $423 million. For the fourth quarter, Herman Miller expects sales of $430 million to $450 million, with analysts looking for revneue of $445 million. The company expects fourth-quarter per-share income of 34 cents to 38 cents, with analysts looking for a per-share result of 38 cents.
