Lindy, while there is some correlation with melanin content, that's just a visible approximation to the real issue. The real issue is brain function, not skin design. You can get much better correlation by considering brain function rather than melanin content.

People don't hire melanin, or lack of it, they hire brain function and the ability to translate that into 3D action [for most jobs anyway - a job as a slave cotton-picking actor in "Roots" would look a bit odd with a blonde Swede playing the part].

Illegal immigrants are not displacing the melanin-rich, even if the melanin-rich are disproportionately represented because of coincidence of brain function with skin colour. Illegal immigrants are replacing those who can't compete on talent or price, not those who can't compete in melanin-content. You won't find a low-priced illegal immigrant getting the Secretary of State job from Condoleezza any time soon, even though she has lots of melanin.

PS: No, I am not making a joke about "Roots". I just noticed that you might think I'm making an obscure reference to "Rooting for FaultLine".
