"Obese poverty" = insulin resistance, which is genetically relatively common in whites, far more common in blacks, Polynesians, and Native Americans, and very uncommon in Asians. Which leads to Metabolic Syndrome or Syndrome X, and is by far the most important cause of death in America. Diabetes, heart disease, stroke, all caused by too many carbohydrates and not enough activity.

Carbohydrate-rich foods are cheap, especially flour, sugar and corn syrup. Meat, fish, vegetables, fresh fruit, cold pressed oils, and complex grains are far more expensive, and out of the reach of the poorest.

Mental acuity is inversely correlated to the amount of TV you watch, especially soap operas.

Eat a Mediterranean diet, step away from the computer and the TV, and live.
