Two and a half: It is astonishing how fast
they go from a nice little emergency reserve
of baby fat, to looking precariously scrawny.

Two hours waiting at Children's hospital...
she was dry heaving a little bit still--
but then she napped while we waited...and
waited. It could have been worse I guess.
We were there a total of five hours, and
were able to get four ounces of gatorade
into her a teaspoon at a time...after the
anti-puke tablet.

They're getting a lot of rotavirus I guess.
Their floor is waxed with a layer of it
(from a little boy who was waiting too...)

In fact, the dozen or so kids in there,
mostly little ones, all had the same look.

Very lucky we have this zofran--it would not
be a trivial expense in the third world to
dole that out, something like $15 a tablet--
but I can imagine that it would be terribly
useful, unless there are cheap herbal remedies
in Bangladesh etc
