That is a true tragedy........It's so sad to witness someone cut down at such a young age.

It seems that every year some young person gets killed in an accident around here. I remember well the morning after which a good friend of my son was killed in a car rollover. He was 18 and was a pole vaulter with one of my sons. Several months later two additional friends of his were killed in a car accident.

I think it helps the healing process if the kids are allowed to do something to express their grief.

IS there counseling available at the school for the kids? MAny schools bring grief counselors into classrooms who work with the kids and teachers.

I remember the last basketball game I attended as a cheerleader during my senior year. Cheering was a big part of my life back then and I took it seriously....I made a big effort got to know the sports and understand what was happening. I instituted many changes during my 4 HS years to the sport of cheerleading..............the last game was the championship game and we lost by 2 points after double overtime.....................I was devastated but didn't show it all in public.

On the scale of important things in my life I look back now and have to say it was minor, but at the time it was huge and powerful.

I always say that our character will be measured mostly by how we handle the things that go wrong in our life.
